Truth in motion transforms life
The term "AletheKinetics" is derived from the two Greek words Aletheia (truth) and Kinetic (movement): thus, the movement or action of truth being revealed, or the process by which truth is actively uncovered and applied. It suggests a dynamic, intentional pursuit of truth that leads to transformation—whether in thinking, personal growth, or practical application in business, leadership, or faith.
In 2009, I was part of a group that was asked to connect Scripture to Ray Dalio's 200 or so principles to scripture. If I remember correctly, there were 4 of us involved in the project, and though I don't know that we ever finished it, the one plus year-long project made an impact. I'd already been involved in other "connecting Scripture" exercises, doing that with Dalio's principles and others were a bit different.
For one, I started thinking deeper about my own principles, how well I had them defined, and how was I living/practicing my . This page is a bit of a brain-dump about my Principles and that process (the alethekinetics).
Definition: A principle is a fundamental truth or guideline that helps shape decision-making, behavior, and actions. It serves as a foundational rule that remains consistent across different situations. Principles provide clarity and direction, acting as a compass for how to navigate challenges, make choices, and achieve goals.
In a world that constantly shifts, principles serve as our anchors. They are not just ideas or preferences but deep-rooted truths that guide our actions, decisions, and interactions. Whether in business, personal growth, or faith, principles are the foundation upon which we build a life of integrity, purpose, and lasting impact.
Principles are not rules; they are enduring truths (alethes). Unlike strategies or tactics, which may change based on circumstances, principles remain constant. They define who we are, what we stand for, and how we operate.
Stephen Covey described principles as “natural laws” that govern effectiveness. John Maxwell emphasizes that principles are the “why” behind leadership, shaping character and influencing those we lead. In the Bible, Proverbs 4:7 reminds us, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.” Principles provide that wisdom.
Principles matter because...
In entrepreneurship, principles determine how we lead, build, and serve. Without them, businesses drift, reacting to trends rather than driving meaningful change. EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) helps businesses clarify core values, ensuring that daily operations align with timeless principles.
For example, one of my guiding business principles is "Build yourself out in front of your business." This means leading with vision rather than being consumed by operations. Another is "Achieve more with less", focusing on impact over activity.
Principles are not just for business; they shape how we engage in relationships, faith, and personal growth. A principle I hold to in life is "Move towards Your Why." This keeps me focused on purpose rather than distractions.
The key is not just identifying principles but integrating them into daily practice. This is where AletheKinetics—the discipline of living out these truths—becomes essential. It’s one thing to know a principle; it’s another to embody it.
Take a moment to reflect on what principles guide you:
The strength of our principles determines the strength of our impact. When we lead with principles, we build businesses that last, relationships that thrive, and lives that reflect what truly matters.
The idea is that I use these principles to guide how truth is applied across all areas of my life and work.
Rather than a last resort, prayer is the starting point for everything, including decision-making and problem-solving.
